Head of Information Governance, Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Andrew is an ambitious and highly motivated health and social care professional with over 20 years' experience in the sector. He is a passionate Information Governance (IG) and Data Protection / GDPR practitioner who, since 2005, has worked with a variety of healthcare information processes across the NHS and independent/charity sector, including provider, shared business and commissioning services. Following his employment by Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in spring 2015, he launched the following Mission Statement to define his team's work: "Ensuring the Trust and its staff have a person-centred approach to managing the personal and sensitive information of its patients and staff, treating it and the organisation's corporate information in a similar manner to which they would expect their own Medical Records or banking information to be treated." He works with passion and enthusiasm to maintain the Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability and Accountability of patient and staff Personal Confidential Data, as well as corporate information. Andrew thoroughly believes that when it is expertly managed, it improves the experience and quality of care that patients receive, while maintaining organisational professionalism and reputation. He is an Accredited Member of the Information and Records Management Society, and was Nominated for its 2017 "Professional of the Year” Award. Out of work Andrew is a passionate and life-long fan of "Doctor Who", proud of his geekiness, remembering as far back as Tom Baker, and particularly enjoying the Patrick Troughton era (despite not having been born when it aired). He is married to Lisa and lives in Sussex with their two newly-born twins, Harriett and Matthew.
