Matt Hudson

Information Governance Manager, 3C Shared Services

Matt Hudson has worked for local authorities for the past 8 years. Initially engaged to undertake an information audit for a council in Suffolk, he was drawn in to the world of information management, then information rights and security at South Cambridgeshire District Council. Offered the chance to help create a new shared service across several authorities, he is now the Information Governance Manager for 3C Shared Services. Matt has a business degree and qualifications in data protection, information security and systems analysis/design. Previous retail management experience provides a customer focus, and he thinks that, having once been a milkman, he can "do the delivery bit”.

Clash of Clans - Creating a Shared Information Governance Service

In an age of vanishing resources, three local tribes recognise that their best chance of survival is to band together against the marauding hordes outside their gates. With very different customs and rituals, how do they overcome their differences and thrive as a larger, stronger community?

The experience of three local authorities in creating a shared information governance service is full of challenges and critical decisions. How did they address the cultural challenges, navigate the political ones and attempt to deliver value? It may not be Game of Thrones, but there might be a pinch of game theory…
