From Chance to Choice: Empowering Newcomers in Information and Records Management
Many people end up in IRM by accident… that short-term contract or secondment which turns permanent, or a job which turns out to be not quite what was advertised. Many organisations know they need someone to manage their records, information, and compliance, but they often don’t know how to describe the role or duties involved. For many, when they settle into the role, they realise how important and worthwhile their job is. However, worry about perceived skills gaps and uncertainty around how and where to get help is often a real issue. So, how can we all help them to do the job the best they can?
This session will cover how to identify what help, support, and training those working in IRM need at the start of their careers. This covers identification of training needs, networking, access to internal and external training and resources, and fostering employer support.
