“It’s not them it’s you”: Are the IG challenges of M365 more about implementation than the product?

Using the published M365 Guidance from the Keeper of the Records of Scotland’s PRSA Assessment Team as a source, I will speak about how continuous communication between procurement/ICT/IG is vital to a successful and secure implication of the M365 platform. In the last few years, we have seen issues caused by new M365 apps being automatically ‘switched on’ as soon as they became available. However, with new ‘toys’ arriving from Microsoft every year, it’s never too late for information managers to influence implementation.

My message is that the adoption of M365 in your organisation is not yet completed because Microsoft haven’t finished making it.

I will use practical examples from the M365 Guidance document to show the sort of questions records managers should ask their ICT department during the roll-out of new M365 apps.
