John is the Assistant Director for Information and Data Governance and Acting Data Protection Officer (DPO) at the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) and Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM).​

John is also a member of both the iNetwork Executive Board and the iStandUK Executive Board.

John has worked within the field of Information & Data Governance and Knowledge and Information Management for over 20 years across a range of organisations – Police, Fire, LA’s, Energy Sector, and Senior Consultancy. This has enabled John to take best practice from across sectors and reuse and then adapt different models that will support key outcomes in another sector.

John is currently leading on the GM Information Strategy across the City Region.

John is passionate about making a difference and ensuring that we develop holistic and agile approaches to how we can harness the value of data/information in a safe, secure and lawful way.
