Calum is the legal research lead at Facebook’s Office of the Data Protection Officer. He advises the Controller on its data protection obligations on projects as wide ranging as Calibra, the Facebook wallet for a new virtual cryptocurrency, to Oculus and virtual reality ambitions.
From a case officer at the ICO ten years ago, he has since held senior roles in local government, the NHS and big tech.
Calum was a volunteer to the Campaign for Freedom of Information in Scotland while undertaking a PhD in comparative FOI legislation at the University of Strathclyde. Now based in London, he is the co-founder of the London Data Protection Practitioner’s Network, a pre-eminent group of privacy experts.
