Marlize Palmer OBE

Welsh Government’s Departmental Records Officer (DRO) and Chief Librarian

Marlize Palmer is the Welsh Government’s Departmental Records Officer (DRO) and Chief Librarian. She is an information professional with considerable commercial and public sector experience gained both in the private and public sector in the UK and abroad. She has over 30 years' experience in the management of library, information and records management services and projects. Marlize is also Head of the Knowledge and Information Management (KIM) profession in the Welsh Government. Marlize is a published author on information & records management and has trained students, practitioners, and staff members in the subject. Marlize regularly speaks at Information management workshops and conferences. She is an Executive Member of CILIP Cymru Wales, the Association for Departmental Records Officers (ADRO), a member of the Committee of Departmental Librarians (CDL) and a member of the Information and Records Management Society of Great Britain (IRMS). Marlize was awarded an OBE for services to Information Management in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list in 2018.
