Tim Turner
Director, 2040 Training

I have worked on Data Protection, FOI and Information Rights law since 2001. I started with an unremarkable stint at the Information Commissioner’s Office as a Policy Manager. However, it was enough to give me real enthusiasm for the subject and I left to more success as a council DPO. Nine years later, I ended the 9-5 phase of my career with a brief role as an Information Governance Manager for an NHS organisation, perfectly timing my arrival to coincide with the organisation’s abolition. In June 2005, I ran my first training course, as my employer at the time had given me permission to run a few courses as long as it didn’t interfere with the day job. In 2011, I became a full-time trainer and consultant, and in 2018, I started to work solely for myself. In 2019, I was voted the IRMS’ Professional of the Year, much to the disappointment of my many enemies and detractors.
