IRMS Conference – Code of Conduct

- Unacceptable behaviour from any Conference attendee, including harassment in any form, will not be tolerated, Be considerate and respectful to all Conference attendees, refraining from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behaviour, materials and speech. If you fail to comply with the IRMS Conference Code of Conduct or any rules and regulations set out by the event venue, or if you are asked to cease your behaviour towards any Conference attendee on any of the above grounds and refuse to do so, IRMS Conference staff will take appropriate action
- Speak up if you observe anything at an event that conflicts with the IRMS Conference Code of Conduct. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed or have any other concerns around inappropriate activity, please contact a member of IRMS Conference staff. Staff can be identified by branded badges and will be happy to assist those experiencing, reporting or witnessing unacceptable behaviour to feel safe for the duration of the event, including by helping guests to contact hotel/venue security or police, provide escorts, or offer other necessary support.
- Anyone found to be engaging in harassing behaviour will be dealt with immediately. IRMS Conference will take any action it deems appropriate, including warning or expelling the offender from the event with no refund. For more egregious behaviour, IRMS Conference may, in its reasonable discretion, temporarily ban a Conference attendee from the Conference for any amount of time deemed necessary.

IRMS Conference has established this Code of Conduct to provide guidelines and to ensure that all Conference attendees understand the expected behaviour, and what will not be tolerated. This includes Conference-organised social events at off-site locations and in related online communities and social media that reference the Conference.
EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR
IRMS Conference expects that all Conference attendees will:
- Be considerate and respectful to all Conference attendees
- Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behaviour, materials and speech
- Speak up if they observe anything at an event that conflicts with this Code of Conduct. If you are being harassed or feel uncomfortable, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of IRMS Conference or the event staff immediately. Staff will be available to assist and support those experiencing, reporting or witnessing unacceptable behaviour.
UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR
Unacceptable behaviour from any Conference attendee will not be tolerated. Unacceptable behaviour includes, but is not limited to:
- Intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory, or demeaning speech, materials, or conduct by any Conference attendees of the event and related event activities. Many event venues are shared with members of the public; please be respectful to all patrons of these locations.
- Violence, threats of violence, or any violent language directed against another person.
- Sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, or otherwise discriminatory jokes and language.
- Personal insults, particularly those related to gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, or disability.
- Inappropriate photography or recording.
- Sharing of content from within the event environment for use on social media, that may reflect negatively on any Conference attendee within the image/video.
- Any boisterous, lewd, or offensive behaviour or language, including but not limited to using sexually explicit or offensive langauge, materials or conduct, or any language, behaviour, or content that contains profanity, obscene gestures, or racial, religious, or ethnic slurs.
- Failure to obey any rules or regulations of the event venue.
- If any Conference attendee has requested your behaviour towards them or another attendee needs to cease on any of the above grounds and you choose to ignore this request, IRMS Conference will take appropriate actions.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU WITNESS OR ARE SUBJECTED TO UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR
If you are subjected to unacceptable behaviour, notice that someone else is being subjected to unacceptable behaviour, or have any other concerns, please notify IRMS Conference staff or contact the IRMS Conference Chair immediately. IRMS Conference staff will be available to assist those experiencing unacceptable behaviour to feel safe for the duration of the event. All reports will remain completely confidential. Staff will be available to assist and support those experiencing, reporting or witnessing unacceptable behaviour.
CONSEQUENCES
Unacceptable behaviour will not be tolerated. Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behaviour is expected to comply immediately. If any Conference attendee engages in unacceptable behaviour, IRMS Conference may take any action it deems appropriate, including warning or expelling the offender from the event with no refund. For more egregious behaviour, IRMS Conference may, in its reasonable discretion, temporarily ban a Conference attendee from the Conference for any amount of time deemed necessary.
If attending as a vendor delegate we ask attendees not to promote their own products or services unless they are a paying sponsor.
