David Teague has headed up the ICO’s Welsh Affairs team since 2016. They work alongside fellow teams in Scotland and Northern Ireland to ensure that the work of the ICO takes into account the political, cultural and legislative differences across the United Kingdom. These teams’ work is especially important where areas of public life such as local government, health, education and (for Northern Ireland and Scotland) policing and justice are devolved to the respective administration in Cardiff, Belfast and Edinburgh, and help the ICO to regulate effectively in all parts of the UK.

Prior to joining the ICO, David was an information rights officer for a local authority and has experienced both sides of the regulatory fence!
