Using AI to Manage the Digital Heap Dr James Lappin has worked in archives and records management for thirty years. In 2024 he was awarded a PhD for his thesis ‘The science of recordkeeping systems’. He is Senior policy lead in knowledge and information management in the UK Government Digital Service, and recently worked on the GDS AI Insights Guide ‘Using AI to manage the digital heap’. He is the author of the Thinking records blog.
