Marcus Stewart
Currently leading the Data & Information Governance team at The Pensions Regulator, previously an Information Governance Manager at a major University and for many years before that, an intelligence analyst with the National Crime Agency and its predecessors. All of these roles have involved developing processes to store, find and retrieve important information – sometimes highly sensitive and sometimes highly urgent, but in other cases just the day-to-day stuff of the workplace. Starting in intelligence has given me a useful perspective on the reliability or otherwise of what is recorded or reported. Being a published short-story writer has also given me insight in how easy it is to make things up! My unusual cv and mixture of analysis and creativity places me between different work cultures, and helps me see where each can learn from the other.
