IRMS Conference 2025 Chosen by the ICO, Google and BCS to Discuss Data Strategy and Ethical Artificial Intelligence

The Information and Records Management Society (IRMS) has announced that the Director of Data at the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and the Group CEO of the British Computer Society (BCS) will join the Data Classification & Zero Trust Security Product Lead for Google Workspace, in presenting keynotes at the IRMS Conference 2025.

More than 500 information professionals (society members and non-members) are expected to attend the IRMS’s annual conference which will take place from 18th to 20th May 2025, at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.

Director of Data at the ICO, Kevin Parry, will share with delegates the journey to establishing the ICO’s new Enterprise Data Strategy, which outlines how data is used to inform and direct its corporate, regulatory and strategic priorities. He will also explain the approach the ICO is taking towards implementing a new data governance initiative.

The approach the BCS is taking regarding the ethics of artificial intelligence (AI) will be discussed by its Group CEO, Rashik Parmar. The keynote will consider the pressing moral dilemmas in AI, the role of the BCS in influencing ethical AI policies and how to chart a course for leveraging the technology to address societal challenges.
