Information and Records Management Society Announces 2025 Conference Programme

The Information and Records Management Society (IRMS) has unveiled its education programme for the IRMS Conference 2025, which will feature more than 50 speakers from across the public and private sectors. The three-day event will take place in Birmingham between 18th and 20th May 2025 and is a must-attend event for anyone involved in document and information sharing, storage, preservation, data processing and archiving, as well as data protection compliance and privacy.  

Representatives from organisations that include the Cabinet Office, Dentsu, Google Workspace, the Information Commissioner’s Office, Metso Finland Oy, Microsoft, NHS England, the Pension Protection Fund, Protas and West Midlands Police, will participate in a variety of presentations, case studies, discussions and workshops focused on the overarching themes of the IRMS Conference 2025:  

Artificial Intelligence (AI) – Delve into the latest AI applications, challenges, and real-life examples in records management. Learn practical tips for leveraging AI to clean and extract value from data and stay updated on the evolving landscape of AI regulations and ethical considerations. 

Microsoft 365 (M365), SharePoint, and Google Workspace – Discover practical use cases and strategies for implementing records management functionalities within M365 and Google tools. Explore Microsoft Information Protection and Purview, governance, retention, and lifecycle management, as well as the integration of AI with these platforms.  

Knowledge Management and Data Governance – Gain insights into knowledge management, taxonomies, ontologies, and the intricacies of data governance, architecture, lineage, and lakes. Learn how to integrate information and data management practices and navigate cultural changes in data governance. 

Professional Development and Practical Skills – Enhance professional growth with sessions focusing on mental health, imposter syndrome, and career paths. Participate in workshops on popular tools, such as managing SharePoint sites and applying retention labels, and build advocacy, confidence, and motivation to promote records management to senior executives.
