Copilot Meets KIM: Embedding AI in Government Information Management Practices

14:50 - 15:20

This session explores how GKIM professionals in Welsh Government are integrating Microsoft Copilot into information management practices to enhance productivity, reuse data and provide exemplars of responsible AI use.

A series of ‘try and test’ pilots will be outlined, including:

  • Project scoping exercises for potential public inquiries
  • Reusing data and information to maximise efficiency for legacy drive reviews
  • Generating and refining information and inputs for E-Discovery processes
  • Making use of small scale Agentic practices in information management

The session will share insights, including headline findings, ethical considerations, and how we avoided generating AI ‘workslop’. We will also reflect on the evolving role of GKIM professionals in shaping responsible AI use and actively seek participation from the audience to share their own experiences. Attendees will gain a practical understanding of how accessible and achievable generative AI use can be woven into GKIM environments and practices.
