Dr Eliza McKee is the Principal Researcher for the Northern Ireland Digitisation Project at The National Archives. With a background in archival research and public history, Eliza leads the strategic development of a landmark initiative to digitise and make accessible thousands of government records relating to the Northern Ireland Troubles. Her work focuses on enhancing transparency, supporting reconciliation, and ensuring ethical stewardship of sensitive historical material. Eliza has collaborated extensively across UK government departments and with academic and community partners to shape a project that balances public access with responsible information governance. Prior to joining The National Archives, she held research and heritage roles across the UK, Ireland and USA. Eliza is passionate about the role of archives in fostering public understanding, accountability, and inclusive narratives within complex political and legacy environments.
