Leading Sideways: A Case Study of Bottom-up Records Management Implementation

Elizabeth H. Day is the Assistant University Archivist for Records Management at The American University in Cairo, where she leads records management operations across all formats and supervises records center facilities. She provides guidance and training to university personnel on proper records management practices, develops institutional records practices, and explores emerging technologies for email archiving and physical records management. Day also supports the University Archives through accessioning, description, web archiving, and exhibitions. She holds a BA in International Affairs and Religious Studies from Northeastern University and an MA in Archival Studies from the University of British Columbia, where her studies focused on integrated record systems, government and public records, and archival ethics. Her work bridges traditional archival practice with institutional records management in a cross-cultural academic environment.
