Keynote: The Role of Governance and Compliance in Unlocking the Full Potential of Data in Clinical Trials

Gaynor Dalton is the Director of Information Governance and Data Ethics at Protas, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to reducing the global burden of common diseases through smarter clinical trials. In this role, Gaynor also serves as Protas’ Data Protection Officer and Caldicott Guardian, ensuring that data is managed in compliance with legal and ethical standards.

A qualified barrister with over 15 years of experience in the legal field, Gaynor’s career spans family law and her work with the Probation Service. Before joining Protas, she spent six years at NHS Digital, where she led the department responsible for providing access to health data for secondary uses. Gaynor also provided crucial guidance across departments during key COVID-19 initiatives, including Test and Trace, the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme, NHS COVID Pass, and the COVID-19 Vaccination Research Registry.
